Easy Pizza Scrolls

There’s something about pizza that works - it’s comforting, versatile, and always a hit with kids and adults alike. But when you take all the delicious flavours of pizza and roll them up into a soft, cheesy scroll? That’s next-level snack magic.

These easy pizza scrolls are a go-to in our kitchen - whether it’s for lunchboxes, a weekend picnic, after-school snacks, or even a casual get-together. They’re quick to make, easy to customise, and the best part? You don’t need to be a baker or a chef to pull them off.

The dough can be store-bought or homemade, and the fillings are totally up to you. Pop them in the oven and within 20 minutes you’ve got golden, fluffy scrolls oozing with melted cheese and rich tomato flavour. Honestly, they rarely make it to the cooling rack in my house.

What makes these scrolls so fun is how easy it is to mix things up. You can stick to the classic cheese and ham combo, or get a little creative depending on what you’ve got in the fridge (or what the picky eaters in your life will tolerate).

Here are a few ideas to try:

🔸 For the traditionalist:
  • Ham + mozzarella + pizza sauce

  • Pepperoni + cheddar

  • BBQ chicken + red onion

🔸 For the veggie lover:
  • Spinach + feta + garlic

  • Mushroom + capsicum + olives

  • Roasted pumpkin + caramelised onion + goat's cheese

🔸 For a little spice:
  • Chorizo + jalapeños

  • Buffalo chicken + ranch drizzle

  • Salami + hot sauce + red chilli flakes

You can even go sweet with a Nutella and banana scroll (just skip the cheese and sauce, of course!).

My kids are simple - they are cheese pizza lovers, and just want the staple ham & cheese version. But these can be completely upgraded for an adult get-together.

Tips for Scroll Success

  • Don’t overload the fillings – a thin layer goes a long way, and helps your scrolls stay tight and bake evenly.

  • Don't overwork the dough -  this will make it tough. It needs minimal mixing and kneading to make it work.

  • Freeze them for future lunchbox wins – just reheat in the oven or air fryer to crisp them up again. You can also freeze any leftover dough to reuse at a later date.

There’s something so satisfying about pulling a tray of these golden scrolls out of the oven. They’re soft, cheesy, full of flavour - and totally customisable to your mood or fridge situation. Plus, they’re a great way to get the kids involved in cooking (just expect a bit of mess!).

If you try them, I’d love to hear what filling combos you come up with. Happy baking - and even happier snacking!
